[prMac.com] Austin, TX - Intego, the Macintosh security specialist, has released an X5 version of its popular ContentBarrier DP software, part of Intego's Dual Protection (DP) product line. This program helps Mac users protect their children when they use the Internet on both Mac OS X and Windows. ContentBarrier X5 Dual Protection features Intego's award-winning parental control software together with Profil Technology's Parental Filter 2, a top-rated Windows program, to provide Mac users with protection for both operating systems.
Since Mac users can run Windows on a Mac with today's Intel-based Macs, they are vulnerable to a whole new range of security threats. When Windows is run in Apple Boot Camp, Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion, it requires Windows-specific protection. Intego's Dual Protection product line provides security for both Mac OS X and Windows, ensuring that Mac users running Windows will have total protection for both operating systems.
*For Mac OS X: ContentBarrier X5 shields children from offensive content, and prevents them from stumbling on the dark side of the Internet. It protects children from adult web sites, predatory chats, suggestive e-mail and more. Parents choose which categories of content to block, and can block specific applications or protocols (peer-to-peer, instant messaging, e-mail, games, streaming audio and video, and more). Parents can also set up schedules with time limits so their children can only access the Internet at specific times.
ContentBarrier X5 records full logs of all users' Internet activity, and can send logs and notifications by e-mail to parents or administrators. The program can take screenshots of user activity at regular intervals, and record chats, e-mails and all text typed. A new web administration feature lets parents keep an eye on what children are doing from any computer with an Internet connection. Parents can see full logs, and can allow or block web sites that kids have visited or tried to access.
*For Windows: Parental Filter 2 is the newest version of the comprehensive parental control solution that ensures safe and appropriate use of the Internet in your home. It filters web pages, by URL and by category, and its Active Content Recognition provides advanced filtering algorithms to ensure maximal protection. It offers schedules and time limits, and can limit use to specific programs or block selected programs. It also offers advanced logs and monitoring features, so parents can check up on what their children see on the Internet.
"As more Mac users run Windows on their Macs, they let their children use Windows as well" said Laurent Marteau, CEO of Intego. "Children need to be protected from the dangers of the Internet on both Mac OS X and Windows, and ContentBarrier X5 DP provides this protection on both platforms, at an affordable price. Intego's Dual Protection products cost only $10 more than Mac-only protection."
