[prMac.com] XChange International, the source for extended technology worldwide, are pleased to announce the release and availability of the new 3D Warps plug-in for After Effects. The plug-in lets users add a new dimension to their After Effects layers, twisting, bending and bulging their images and creating colourful grids.
The 3D Warps package contains two powerful plug-ins: 3D Layer Warp and 3D Grid Warp. 3D Layer Warp lets users take existing After Effects layers and deform them in many ways. They can twist them along any axis, bend a layer around itself and add arbitrary dimension with a displacement map. 3D Layer Warp deforms After Effects layers using a variety of warp styles. Users can combine multiple warps to create an infinite number of shapes and use any layer (image, movie, animation) to colour the warp and determine its shape. A displacement map can also be used to apply user-defined warping.
3D Grid Warp provides the same warping controls as 3D Layer Warp in addition to a crisp grid generator. Users can select their grid style and set their line colours. The plug-in gives them the power to animate the lines and the warping parameters to create fantastic backgrounds for motion graphics. Advanced material, lighting, and camera controls allow users to create dramatic scenes with ease.
3D Grid Warp also deforms layers, but it has a powerful grid generator that can be used to create a variety of grid styles. Users can also overlay (or underlay) a colour map for additional effects. 3D Layer Warp and 3D Grid Warp provide a variety of Warp Styles to choose from and users may combine the styles in order to achieve complex shapes.
The Line Controls and the Colour Controls in 3D Grid Warp can be used to create custom grids. Users can combine up to three warps to create unique shapes and can also animate the parameters to put warps in motion. Any other layer may be applied as the source for the colour image used in the warp and images with alpha channels can be used to cut out pieces of the source image. Colour maps can be combined with the grids in 3D Grid Warp. Layers can have transparency, specular highlights, and reflection maps and there is a choice to use the lights in the Warp plug-in or After Effects lights for additional effects.
