KeyCue 4.5 lets you get the most out of your QuicKeys shortcuts

[] Hagenberg, Austria - Ergonis Software today announced KeyCue 4.5 adding support for QuicKeys shortcuts. KeyCue is quite a handy tool for learning and remembering keyboard shortcuts. Whenever the Command key is kept pressed for a while, KeyCue displays a table with all keyboard shortcuts available in the currently active application.

QuicKeys is a powerful macro program that lets you define custom action sequences together with your own shortcuts to activate them. As with menu shortcuts, when you have defined a lot of useful macros, remembering all the shortcuts for invoking them becomes a challenge.

Starting with version 4.5 of KeyCue and version 4.0 of QuicKeys, the two applications work together allowing KeyCue to show the currently active QuicKeys shortcuts.

"The average Mac OS X application has about 40 menu shortcuts. The average QuicKeys user maintains even more shortcuts. KeyCue helps you learn these shortcuts and consequently boosts your productivity," said Christoph Reichenberger, founder and CEO of Ergonis Software. "I am happy to announce the cooperation with Startly Technologies, LLC, that allows us to make KeyCue's functionality available also for QuicKeys shortcuts. This will take productivity of our joint customers to a new level."

"When I first discovered KeyCue, it quickly became one of the 'hidden gems' that I now find it difficult to live without. The number of keyboard shortcuts in various applications makes KeyCue worth its weight in gold. Many useful commands are buried deep and while you can create your own cheat sheet or search with the Help menu, it's never as effective as KeyCue with its live coloring of shortcuts with matching modifiers. Once you realize how KeyCue increases your productivity, you'll never go back to writing down useful keyboard shortcuts again," said Jim Turner, Software Engineer at Startly Technologies. "QuicKeys users are going to truly enjoy the ability to list their shortcuts in KeyCue. Some of our more advanced users have thousands of shortcuts in dozens of scopes. With KeyCue prominently displaying shortcut triggers for the current scope, our users will never again have to guess or search for hot key triggers. Lighter users of QuicKeys will also find KeyCue a great addition as it provides a fast and easy way to help build the muscle memory needed to learn new shortcuts. I'm very excited about KeyCue and QuicKeys working together, it's a perfect match for both products and our users."

The productivity paradox of keyboard shortcuts is that shortcuts were designed to increase productivity. However, productivity actually decreases when applications provide large numbers of shortcuts, in particular when the shortcuts are defined inconsistently across applications. KeyCue's elegantly simple solution is to detect and display an instant overview of all shortcuts, i.e., the overall functionality of any application. Over time, KeyCue users will automatically remember frequently used shortcuts and start working more efficiently.

KeyCue has already received many awards, including a 4.5-Mice award from MacWorld magazine.
