Power DOS for iOS now with Day Commander, Minesweeper and Open GEM 6

January 27, 2015 in Entertainment (E)

[prMac.com] Pfaeffikon, Switzerland - Power APP today is proud to announce the release of Power DOS 1.1.0, an update to their popular entertainment app developed for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. Power DOS brings a full running DOS to iOS. The DOS is not just a CLI, it is a full fledged operating system. It does everything that the Ancient DOS did. It is capable of executing batch files or installing some of the game classics that never made it past DOS. The latest update introduces a Day Commander to navigate, the Minesweeper minigame and Open GEM 6, a graphical user interface.

* Fully working Disk Operating System
* Graphical Environment Manager (Open GEM 6)
* Minesweeper
* Borland C++ Compiler

"DOS is ancient and not really in use anymore, but all the same a lot of us remember the days when there was no graphical user interface," explains Christian Schaffner, GM of Power APP. "A lot of applications disappeared together with DOS to be never reintroduced. Especially a lot of games, which looked ugly compared to what's usual nowadays but provided a lot of fun. With Power DOS we wanted to create a platform where all this old stuff can be used - end enjoyed - again. We decided to start with the Day Commander, a clone of the often used Norton Commander. Minesweeper was a lot of fun to play back then, so we gave it a shot too. We found Open GEM to be interesting and therefore packed it in Power DOS as well. Also available are a few Borland tools for programming. We would like to thank Borland at this place for having the C++ Compiler available."

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
* Requires iOS 5.1.1 or later
* 36.1 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Power DOS 1.1.0 is only $0.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Entertainment category.
