[prMac.com] Freising, Germany - J&H announces the release of Qake Lite, a free version of the arcade game Qake for iOS. The trial version invites the player to check out the first ten levels of Qake and provides an insight into its randomized level design.
Just like in it's role model Qix, the player's mission in each level of Qake is to secure a certain percentage of the court area. Controlling the player via Swipe-gestures, the user has to steer her token around the court and section off partitions until she reaches the level goal. Opposing the player are different types of enemy balls and bombs.
In order to achieve this mission dexterity and agility as well as coordination abilites are required to beat the enemy balls, which are equipped with tricky abilities and move along the court in hard-to-predict manors. Examples include size-changing balls as well as balls that slow-down and accelerate at random intervals and egg-shaped balls that move in a wobbly manor.
To help out the player, there are different kinds of power-ups that appear at randomized intervalls. The Shield-Power-Up makes the token invincible for a short period of time, while the Speed-Power-Up boosts movement speed. The third kind of power-up awards the player with an additional life.
In contrast to many other classic arcade games Qake cannot be beat. After each successfully completed level, the player faces yet another, more difficult level. Moreover, Qake is designed with a randomized level algorithm: While general difficulty parameters like enemy ball movement speed progress linearly, the configuration of balls is dynamically composed at runtime for each level. This ensures that every gaming session is a unique experience. Furthermore, Qake contains three different kinds of bonus-/mini-games awaiting the player at regular intervals.
Qake Lite features the first ten levels of gameplay and gives a surface impression of the game. The full version of Qake offers infinite randomized levels, as well as integrated Game Center support enabling players to compete in global leaderboards and to earn achievements.
