beaTunes 4.6 - High resolution display support for Windows

April 19, 2016 in Music and Recording (E)

[] Cologne, Germany - tagtraum industries is pleased to announce the release of beaTunes 4.6, featuring a fresh new look and usability improvements for their popular music library management utility for Mac OS X and Windows. beaTunes excels at fixing ID3 tags, and automatically calculating musical key and tempo - features valued by music enthusiasts, DJs, and athletes alike.

The new beaTunes 4.6 features a much improved experience for Windows users with a modern, high DPI display. User interface elements are crisp and attractive with a flat, yet stylish Mac-like look.

Besides the obvious visual changes, tagtraum industries improved many little things under the hood. Most importantly, coalesced database writes are reducing disk I/O and thus increase overall performance. Good news also for those who love to hack: beaTunes can now execute plugins written in JavaScript. On the metadata inspection front, especially the English capitalization rules got some love and now work much better than before.

JavaScript Plugins:
beaTunes takes advantage of the Nashorn extensions to allow JavaScript code access to beaTunes-Java-objects. Examples can be found on GitHub. A complete guide on how to get started is available.

English Capitalization:
For beaTunes 4.6, the English language capitalization rules have been rewritten from scratch. As long as beaTunes knows a title is in English the corresponding inspector can suggest alternative spellings.

Overall, version 4.6 continues the evolution of this indispensable tool for music lovers. Clearly, it's getting more and more refined, making music analysis and library management easier than ever.
