[] Leuven, Belgium - Orbicule today released Macnification 1.6, a major update to its Apple Design Award winning microscopy application. Macnification enables scientists to organize, analyze, adjust, visualize and compare microscopic images. In addition to adding support for Snow Leopard, Macnification now runs as a 64-bit application on all supported Macs. It is one of the first scientific applications to take advantage of Grand Central Dispatch, Apple's new technology for leveraging multi-core Macs.

* Performance-critical operations take advantage of Grand Central Dispatch
* Vastly improved full-screen view for image analysis

Macnification has been built from the ground up for Mac OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard. The app takes advantage of Core Animation to offer scientists a stunning way to visualize image stacks and to make virtual cuts through them.
