Free Mac Security Course and E-Book Released

in Educational (F)

[prMac.com] Denver, Colorado - Mac video tutorial website MacMost.com's latest course is about computer security. But it is not for IT or security professionals. Instead, it teaches regular Mac users how to keep their Mac and online accounts safe from the many dangers and threats on the Internet.

The Practical Guide to Mac Security consists of 24 lessons that will enable the typical home and office Mac user to secure their Mac from dangers like malware, online account break-ins, data loss, and online scams. The course includes a free e-book of the same name with even more information and details.

This course is meant for casual Mac users who use their Macs at home or in the office. The lessons will allow them to secure their own Mac without needing to understand complicated computer techniques. It is an everyday guide for everyday Mac users.

MacMost also has a number of other courses including ones on the Mac apps Pages, Numbers and Keynote. Gary Rosenzweig, the producer and host of MacMost's tutorials said he wants this course to be free.

"I think that it is very important that every Mac user know the basics of how to keep their Macs secure and stay safe online," he said. "I didn't want anyone to have an excuse not to learn about Mac security and Internet safety."

There are four main sections to the course. The first covers online threats and how important it is to have strong passwords and use two-factor authentication. The second section discusses malware and how to protect your Mac with Apple's built-in security. The third section deals with common online scams like phishing attacks. The final section talks about the importance of backups.

"Most of the information in the course is useful to anyone, even if they are using tablets or Windows PCs," said Rosenzweig. Advice in the course on strong passwords, for instance, could be used by anyone. However, the examples explain how Apple's iCloud Keychain can be used on Macs to generate passwords.

The Practical Guide to Mac Security is available on Udemy.com, the online course website. You can read more about the course at the MacMost website.
