[prMac.com] Stratford, Connecticut - Angry Chicken Software today is pleased to announce Photo Notes Pro 2.0.8 for iOS, a major update to their popular Photography app that lets users add captions and decorative shapes to photos. Instantly, ordinary photos are transformed into humorous, touching, or informative keepsakes. In addition to plain text captions, the app can add four different kinds of shapes to any photo: text shapes, including thought and speech bubbles; picture-in-picture shapes; stock clipart shapes; and colorable clipart shapes. All shapes can be moved, edited, rotated, stretched, duplicated, and customized using different colors, fonts, and effects. Finished photos can be saved to the iOS Photo Album, or shared through email or Facebook via the app's built-in Internet connectivity. Each page of Photo Notes has its own help screen and demonstration video.
With the ubiquity of camera-equipped cell phones has come an overabundance of personal photos, clogging email in-boxes and albums. The resultant competition has created a survival of the fittest photo effect, and the marketplace has responded with apps to crop, process, and stylize images. Photo Notes takes image processing a step further by allowing creative picture-takers to actually add content to their original photo. (All the better if the photo has already had its color and contrast optimized.)
Adding a simple caption to a photo has a surprisingly powerful effect on most viewers. Suddenly, both visual and verbal processes are activated and interacting. The enjoyment of the picture is enhanced by allowing the viewer to derive meaning from more than the contents of the photo alone. Now, imagine the possibilities using a comic book thought bubble to express what was on the mind of a wife, child, pet, friend, or relative at the moment their picture was snapped. Photo Notes makes it easy to place, size, and color the graphical symbol for thinking, stretch and point the emerging bubbles so they emanate from just the right spot, and then add text using dozens of fonts and colors.
The app makes it easy to experiment with different positions, fonts, and colors for text bubbles, and they remain sharp and smooth no matter how they are re-sized. Having composed the perfect text for a thought or speech bubble, users can save their new photo in the iOS Photo Album, or share it from within the app via email or Facebook.

Besides text-based additions to the photo, there are a large assortment of graphic-based adornments provided with the app in three categories: stock clipart shapes, colorable clipart shapes, and picture-in-picture shapes. Stock clipart shapes that can be positioned, scaled, and rotated by touch include: Flags, Road Signs, and Smileys (new categories are constantly being added, such as Seasonal clipart, and they are automatically updated each time the app is opened). Colorable clipart shapes, whose color, brightness, and opacity can be controlled, include: Arrows, Banners, Miscellaneous, Decorative Shapes, and Universal Symbols. Picture-in-picture shapes enable the superimposition of one image on another, as well as the assembly of creative collages of several photographs.
The ideal meta-app for the age of iPhone photography, Photo Notes lets users continue expressing their creativity long after they have shot their photo. The user interface works seamlessly, and there are both help pages and help videos to guide new users every step of the way.
"Version 2 of Photo Notes contains nearly all the improvements and new features our customers have asked for," commented Colin Phillips of Angry Chicken Software. "There's no other Photography app like Photo Notes with so much flexibility and ease of use at such a reasonable price."
