[prMac.com] Barcelona, Spain - The Pedia programs, DVDpedia, Bookpedia, CDpedia and Gamepedia, are media cataloging programs for Mac OS X. They retrieve information from numerous international search sites via barcode scanning and keyword searches. Users can organize their media in collections and folders, export collections in various different formats, including customizable HTML, and access statistics about their databases.
Version 5 brings the search option of the programs to a whole new level thanks to the addition of Doghouse, a media server built for and by Pedia users. Users can share their data with others by uploading entries or whole collections without country or language restrictions, making Doghouse the first truly global search site in the Pedias. Other open search sites such as Wikipedia and Freebase have also been added. The programs have been expanded to include further media such as TV series in DVDpedia, comics in Bookpedia and board games in Gamepedia. New fields have been added to accomodate these in addition to 8 more custom fields which include check boxes, date fields and multi value fields.
The UI of the programs has received many changes as well: users can drill deeper into their databases with a new filter option for the Details view and Statistics which displays entries based on the value selected, use Trackpad gestures in the Coverflow and Add/Edit views to move back and forth as well as pinch-to-zoom in the Grid view and assign half-stars to their My Rating values with the newly expanded star rating system. Buttons and colors have been updated to match Lion 10.7 and new details templates have been added.
For the week of November 8, 2011, the programs are also sold with a special celebratory launch discount:
* US$12 for one Pedia program
* US$24 for two Pedias
* US$36 for the three Pedia bundle
* US$48 for the complete Pedia suite
A special $12.99 discount price is also available for the four programs in the Mac App Store during the week of November 8, 2011.
