[prMac.com] Austin, Texas (SXSW) - Consumers finally have control over their digital identity, thanks to Gliph - a secure messaging, identity and contact management platform. Gliph launched today with free apps on the iTunes App Store and Android Marketplace.
Gliph has answered the ongoing digital privacy debate with a reliable messaging platform that is truly private, allowing users to choose exactly what personal information they share and with whom they share it. Through simple native interfaces, Gliph allows users to select their own unique "gliph" pseudonym (a combination of three to five visual icons, such as a star, mushroom, and diamond). When Gliph users make connections with one another, they can reveal how much information they want to share on a person-by-person basis. Once connected through Gliph, users can use in-app text messaging.
"We believe people are multi-faceted and should be allowed to reflect a unique identity that matches each relationship, whether it be professional or social," said Rob Banagale co-founder, and CEO. "Gliph lets people reveal only what's appropriate and earn trust over time - just like we all do in off-line relationships."
Gliph is the first company to offer cross-platform applications that deliver encrypted text messaging and personal information exchange. It uses security measures to ensure the user's conversations and personal data are signed and encrypted, in transit and prior to being stored on the server. "We secure your first name better than most websites secure your credit card information," Banagale explains.
Gliph apps are available on the App Store for iPhone and iPod touch, as well as the Android Marketplace.
Officially launching at South by Southwest (SXSW), Gliph will offer free mobile device charging from 12 p.m. to 1 a.m. CST each day from their cart at the southwest corner of 4th Street & N. Congress Avenue. Gliph's "Yeti" mascot will make appearances downtown Austin throughout the conference. The company has also partnered with Brooklyn-based band Runaway Dorothy, which will perform showcases throughout the week.
Founded in January 2012, Gliph provides a platform for private communication and secure personal information management. The company empowers users to choose what personal information they share online. Anyone can sign up and claim a unique gliph. Mobile apps are available through the iTunes App Store and Android Marketplace. Gliph is a privately held company headquartered in Portland, Oregon. Copyright (C) 2012 Gliph. All Rights Reserved.
