[prMac.com] Sydney, Australia - AcronymSoup today is pleased to introduce Panda Game 1.0 for iOS, their simple, one-person puzzle game played on a 7 x 9 grid, which requires players to think far in advance to solve the puzzle. Players are permitted to take back only one move before they must begin the puzzle again. The panda must reach the exit square, and he can find his way to most empty squares by moving one square at a time, horizontally or vertically. Some cells contain obstacles, which force him to go around, when possible. Only rafts can go across water, and once on the raft he must go as far as possible in his chosen direction. The challenge of Panda Game is to visualize a possible method of reaching the exit cell before making a single move. The order of moves is as important as the moves themselves, as players quickly discover when they find themselves unable to move at all, and they must take back their previous move.
The puzzle boards themselves appear easy enough, composed primarily of grassy squares and water squares. The panda can step on any grass square that he can reach by moving horizontally or vertically, but he can never step on a water square. The 50-level game contains a variety of puzzles where crossing water is necessary, and this is easily done by stepping on to a raft that can be reached from a grass square or another raft square. Once on the raft, the panda must go as far as possible in the horizontal or vertical direction chosen. Unfortunately, not all rafts can go in all four directions, so it is often necessary to take several rafts to cross the water. Fortunately, rafts can be moved without the panda aboard, enabling players to construct raft bridges the panda can walk across and other strategies with multiple rafts.
In addition to strategically situated obstacle squares, there are some squares that are temporary obstacles, in that they must be unlocked to enter. This requires traveling first to get the key(s) before moving through locked squares to the exit square. The game includes various surprises, like grass cells that crumble after being walked over and teleportation squares, plus amusing animations as the panda awaits the player's move (and yet another surprise awaits at the country border level). As mentioned, the panda is intelligent and will find his way to any square if it is possible. This means that a player only needs to touch a cell anywhere on the board, and if it is possible, the panda will walk there.
