Does Twitter Know First About the Republican Presidential Nomination?

April 3, 2012 in News

[prMac.com] Berlin, Germany - Akamoto today is thrilled to announce its new iOS news app 'GOP Unbound 1.1' is here to speculate about the potential delegate count for the 2012 Republican US Presidential Nominating Convention in Tampa, Florida, August 27-30.

The GOP Unbound engine is currently drinking about one million tweet messages each week, following a simple pattern: counting all mentions (not only hashtags) of the four Republican candidates, consolidating and translating it into a stable delegate forecast for the second ballot of an open convention. All forecasts are done on a national as well on a state level and later recombined. For creating state specific forecasts, the GOP Unbound engine considers available location data of each tweet and tries to assign it to the correct US state.

Being an experiment primarily building on swarm intelligence and the sheer mass of available data from an incorruptible, sleepless, open and vibrant sentiment source, we are excited to watch 'GOP Unbound' predicting this race with fresh forecasts by the minute.

The 'GOP Unbound' iOS app allows viewing the latest current (covering all completed states) and final (at the convention) national forecasts plus offers a team-up mode where the user may check for the combined delegate power of a potential team up of two candidates.

Device Requirements:
* iOS 4.0 or later
* iPhone, iPod touch and iPad
* 1.8 MB

Pricing and Availability:
GOP Unbound 1.1 is $1.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the News category. The app will serve fresh forecasts by the minute until 30-Aug-2012.
