Chimaerix, makers of Map My Deals, hires Chief Technology Officer

[prMac.com] Houston, Texas - Chimaerix announced today the hire of David Richardson as its Chief Technology Officer. Best known for its daily deal aggregator iPhone app, Map My Deals, Chimaerix expects the appointment to lead to rapid development of its current and planned suite of retail shopping apps.

"We are extremely excited about this hire," stated Bevin Hartnett, CEO of Chimaerix. "I've been familiar with the work of David over the past 10 years, and after his limited role as a consultant in the initial version of the app, we worked hard to secure his full-time involvement with the company."

Richardson notes that, "While there are a lot of players in the daily deals market, I feel like we're ahead of the pack when it comes to putting the best deals directly into the hands of the users. We have the chance to move the ball even further ahead with some upcoming changes to Map My Deals, and I look forward to the opportunities that exist with my new role at Chimaerix."

Richardson's responsibilities in the short-term include advancing the full functionality of the Map My Deals website, and rolling out a late-spring release of version 2.0 of the highly-rated app. "A lot of the newest features of Map My Deals involve social network integration and authentication protocols that have never been done before in the iPhone environment," stated Hartnett. "David's creativity and determination in seeking out solutions to technological puzzles were key reasons for this strategic hire."

Prior to joining Chimaerix, Richardson was a member of Major League Soccer's Media Relations department. At MLS, Richardson spearheaded the development of the League's official website, leading to the formation of a League-wide site network.

David is a graduate of the Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University, and studied Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. He currently lives in Frenchtown, New Jersey.
