Appracadabra's Count the Animals! wins Best Educational App Award

June 3, 2012 in Education

[prMac.com] The Hague, Netherlands - Independent children's app publisher Appracadabra is happy to announce that its children's app Count the Animals! has been rewarded with the Junior Design Award for Best Educational App of 2012.

"It's the playful illustrations and animation that make it truly memorable" states Chief Editor Catherine O'Dolan in the jury report.

The Junior Design Awards were created by UK parenting magazine Junior to celebrate excellence in design & style for children's fashion, lifestyle & interiors, travel, food, toys and books.

From the jury report: "Learning to count with a kooky crew of interactive characters is our number one aim! There's plenty of opportunity to hone those number and counting skills with this app, by Appracadabra, but it's the playful illustrations and animation that make it truly memorable - and yes, those cheeky dogs who cock a leg to pee, and deposit a twirly-whirly poop cause great amusement. There are magic rabbits, buzzy bees, insects falling into soup and being gobbled up, and flying fish (and crashing glass bowls) - all ready and counting. There's a choice of languages to select, too, so why not learn to count in Japanese, Chinese, or Swedish?"

"We are over the moon winning this design award," says Diana van Ewijk, marketing director of Appracadabra, "especially as our aim is to publish beautiful, usable and honest apps. We are spearheading an international platform to promote higher quality in children's apps, Kind Kids App Rules, which has been picked by Wall Street Journal. Being awarded by a parenting magazine means that parents acknowledge our hard work too and this motivates us to keep going - more than anything else."

Other apps in the Educational App category: "My First Word Play" (Highly Commended) and "Mini Monsters" (Shortlisted).
