[prMac.com] Melbourne, Australia - FileMaker solutions provider, Goya Pty Ltd today is pleased to announce their new Web Services product, RESTfm. RESTfm turns your FileMaker Server into a RESTful Web Service, so you can access your FileMaker Server databases via the web using a common REST architecture with easy to understand API calls.
RESTfm supports full Create, Read, Update and Delete ( CRUD ) operations on FileMaker Server hosted data via standard HTTP GET, POST, PUT and DELETE methods.
"This new way of accessing FileMaker data is another notch in the FileMaker developer toolset and will be a great improvement to adhoc and custom approaches for integration with other systems. These days Web Services are almost a standard interoperability option and having this in FileMaker increases the number of other systems that can interact and share data." said Nicholas Orr of Goya Pty Ltd.
RESTfm allows developers to build web based systems that interact in simple standard ways with FileMaker server. But it also allows other FileMaker platforms like FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Go clients to talk back to FileMaker Server via the web instead of needing to open special ports for access.
Supporting all of the built in privilege based authentication methods as well as web server and API key access, there are plenty of options for limiting access.
Pricing and Availability:
RESTfm is available for $399 (USD) for a single FileMaker server licence. Other licensing options, education and not for profit pricing is available on request. Demonstrations of RESTfm functionality are available on the RESTfm website, including an open source jQuery site built with RESTfm as the back end data source.
