[prMac.com] London, United Kingdom - Mindshapes and BBC Worldwide are teaming up to make Wibbly Pig, the popular children's book and cartoon series, available in Magic Town. Magic Town is an interactive world based on popular stories and well-known characters from children's books and television shows. Wibbly Pig joins a long list of Magic Town residents including Elmer, Little Princess, Winnie the Witch, Little Red Riding Hood, and Aliens Love Underpants.
Both the Magic Town app for iPad and its website are designed for children aged 2 to 6 years old to enjoy either independently or with an adult. There are more than 100 stories, or "Livebooks," to choose from. And since the app's June debut, children from 160 countries have read close to 300,000 Livebooks. Mindshapes created the Livebook format in close collaboration with child development experts including Professor Paul Harris at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The goal is to use storytelling to stimulate children's imagination, reasoning, social skills and language development.
The Wibbly Pig series is based on the best-selling books by Mick Inkpen. Wibbly Pig lives in his own gentle little world. There is no limit to where his adventures might take children, whether it's up to a castle to find three giants, leading an orchestra of animals, flying on a balloon journey or taking a trip on a cloud! In Magic Town, Wibbly Pig invites children to follow him on his adventures along with his friends Big Pig, the Pig Twins, Scruffy Pig, Pig Ears, Tiny Pig, Aunt Larlie and Spotty Pig.
Christian Dorffer, Chief Commercial Officer, Mindshapes: "Partnering with BBC Worldwide is hugely exciting for us as we continue building Magic Town to become the interactive brand of choice for parents and preschoolers around the world. Jenny Fielding, Head of Digital Ventures, BBC Worldwide added: "BBC Worldwide is always looking to work with exciting new innovative platforms that enable us to further our audiences' enjoyment of our brands. Mindshapes' knowledge and experience in the 'Livebooks' arena will help us take one of our most popular children's titles, Wibbly Pig, beyond the e-books platform to offer fans a more immersive experience."
