Launch of location-based mobile app Shoutt

in Social Networking

[prMac.com] Wilmington, Delaware - Shoutt Inc., a mobile startup, announced today the debut of their iOS app 'Shoutt'. Shoutt is a location-based app that hopes to redefine public communication. It is being launched exclusively for the Stanford University community this Fall.

Shoutt derives its name from the act of shouting in the real world. The Shoutt team has taken this real world act and brought it to the mobile phone. Using the app a person can share information with the people around them. To shoutt, one simply types in their share, picks how far they want to be heard and shoutts. The users located within that radius will be able to 'hear' the shared shoutt.

"Shoutt works best in communities defined by location - college campuses, offices, shopping centers and downtowns." said Mansi Gandhi, COO and Co-Founder of Shoutt Inc. "We hope to redefine how people communicate in these hyperlocal communities."

Shoutt, unlike most existing social networks, focuses on information and not people. There is no following or friending of users. Using Shoutt as an information platform, users can find the most relevant and popular information around them.

* iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch and iPad
