December 3, 2012 in Social Networking (E)
[prMac.com] Colombo, Sri Lanka - During 2011 earthquake in Japan, people passed on emergency messages and alerts through social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Founder of AlertifyMe identified that people are in need of social network that is specifically designed to do particular function, which is to alert people in case of emergencies. Kalana Jayatilake, Co-Founder of AlertifyMe, came up with an idea which is "With a click of a button, can we send a message containing our location to our friends or family asking for help?". AlertifyMe network just exactly that. It sends emergency messages to specific users. Not only that, users can interact with each other in a form of alerts. Users can share pictures, messages and their location with this network.
Currently, AlertifyMe consists of two components, which are AlertifyMe Social and AlertifyMe Traffic. AlertifyMe Social is the main network of AlertifyMe. This component consists of two alert types, which are normal alerts and emergency alerts. Normal alerts consist of photos and messages that users want their friends to see. These appear in green in our network. Emergency Alerts are alerts with preset messages that need to be sent to specific users. These alerts appear in red. AlertifyMe Traffic is a network for socialized alerts. This displays traffic alerts from around the world posted by other users up to two hours old. Users can post three types of Traffic Alerts, which are "Accident", "Road Closed", and "Traffic Jam".
