[prMac.com] Leechburg, Pennsylvania - TJ Publsihing Company has announced the release of a new version of Picnic in the Park 1.1, their delightful and educational application for the iPad, iPhone and iPod. Aimed specifically at the pre-school/early adolescent market, the easy-to-play Picnic in the Park boasts a number of changes to improve the amount of interaction for the players, adjusts the "game board" to allow for fewer send-backs, adds much-improved Help and changes the die from pips to numerals at the suggestion of users.
For those unfamiliar with Picnic in the Park, the game allows from one to four players to compete in a race through a graphically-enhanced park, collecting food and drinks for their picnic basket and advancing to the picnic grounds in an effort to be the first to arrive!
Adding to the fun are special "Star" squares along the park's path. Land on a Star and a card is revealed, displaying something that might hinder your efforts or help them. Cards like "Rain" or "Bees" or "Hungry Bear" might make the player lose a turn or worse, one of the food or drinks he or she's collected, forcing the player to go back and replace what is lost. However, cards like "Sunshine" or "Insect Spray" or "Park Ranger" - if drawn and saved - can be used to counter bad cards and let the player skip along the path without delay!
The newly enhanced strategy feature is designed to appeal to slightly older players (ages 5-8) who want to do more than move through the park, collecting items for their picnic baskets. The new "Re-Roll" option allows each human player to use, when they choose, up FIVE re-rolls in an effort to improve their chance to win. Players can now re-roll a bad roll, re-roll in an effort to score a needed item for their picnic basket, or even save all their re-rolls for a mad dash to the picnic grounds and a win!
