Art Alert helps you find great art wherever you find yourself

in Travel

[prMac.com] Ashland, Oregon - The creators of the award-winning "Art Authority" app line today announced immediate availability of their new Art Alert app for iPhones and iPads. Art Alert uses the Art Authority database of nearly 60,000 works of art to help users find, preview, and get to the world's best art at over 500 locations around the globe.

Starting from a map of the world, or of where they are or where they plan to be, users first tap pins representing museums and other art locations in the area. They can then view a location's address, phone, Web or Wikipedia site, get directions, call the location on the iPhone, and browse the entire Art Authority collection for that location (over 1400 works, for instance, from the Louvre).

Users can also launch the Art Authority app directly from Art Alert, if they have the latest version installed. The Art Authority app provides additional ways of viewing a location's works, such as in automated slide shows with music, and lets users further explore the location, its works, artists, and related context.

"Our users have raved about how much Art Authority enhanced their real-world art viewing experience," said Alan Oppenheimer, president of Art Authority co-developer Open Door Networks. "They helped us see how we could leverage our extensive database to create an app that helps us all find and enjoy real art in the real world."

Art Authority for iPad is the only iPad Reference app to be named to Apple's Rewind 2011 and Rewind 2010 "best of" lists. It brings nearly 60,000 high-resolution classic works of art to users' fingertips. Hailed as "an experience unlike any other" and "visually dazzling," the app professionally displays paintings and sculptures by over 1000 major western artists from ancient times through current-day. Art Authority for Macintosh, iPhone, and Kindle Fire bring similar functionality to these devices.

The Art Authority app line is the product of an innovative collaboration between two separate software companies, Open Door Networks and Project A. The mission of Art Authority is the design, development and deployment of the best ways for users to experience art on their modern-day devices.
