[prMac.com] Stockholm, Sweden - Following the success of their multi-lingual learning app Color Monster, Wombi has developed three new monsters to teach letters, shapes, and numbers. Parents of children ages two and up can download Shape Monster, Number Monster, and Letter Monster. The games are available through the App Store and Google Play.
Kids, parents, and kindergarten teachers have rallied around Color Monster as a way to introduce colors. The premise of the game involves a hungry monster that requests different fruit to eat, and if players don't deliver the right-colored fruit, the picky monster gets upset. For young beginners, the game also has visual cues to help.
The sequels of Color Monster are built on very similar premises, but they have a few new features as well. To make the game more challenging, the assisting visual cues are now optional in the game settings.
The Letter Monster is an affable sea captain with a gruff exterior. He has cravings for specific sea biscuits, each marked with a specific letter. This app is a way for kids to learn letters outside the context of the alphabet. As a setting option, they can also observe the differences between capital and lowercase as well.
The Shape Monster is also a hungry sort, but he resides in a messy kitchen and wants to cook something up for his picky palate. Game creator Markus Wedenborn remarks, "What better way to learn shapes than through cooking with different foods? This picky eater will only accept food of certain shapes, which poses a fun challenge - and perhaps it's something some kids can relate to!" There are two levels to this game: one with easy shapes like squares and circles, and another that goes into more advanced shapes like hexagons.
Finally, the Number Monster is a wacky scientist looking for futuristic mushrooms to conduct experiments. Each mushroom is marked with a number ranging from one to twenty, and as lab assistants, players must match the numbers to answer the monster's requests.
