[prMac.com] Hong Kong - Taking a taxi in Beijing can be quite a hassle. Most taxi drivers don't speak English. Or to rephrase that, the majority of tourists and foreigners in the city do not know any Mandarin. A new app, The Beijing Taxi Translator, sets out to solve this problem. With over 1000 streets, hundreds of buildings and hotels and more than 1000 other destinations the app will make anyone fluent in Beijing addresses, making everyday life less frustrating for drivers and visitors alike.
Let us say that you are going to 72 HongLian Road, and your attempt to pronounce the name doesn't impress your driver. Whip out your phone, search for the street, add the street number or a crossing and in a matter of seconds you can display a Taxi Card with the address in Simplified Chinese and pinyin. If it is an address you visit frequently you can name it and save it to favorites. Should you be missing something you can add your own content and suggest it for the next update.
Unlike other products this app is not about finding something nearby the place you want to go to. This app enables the user to create specific Taxi Cards for literally millions of addresses. If it is an address you visit frequently you can name it and save it to favorites and you can share it by SMS or e-mail. Should you be missing something you can add your own content and suggest it for the next update. The material is sorted in the following categories. The whole database can be searched from the start screen.
* Buildings & Landmarks
* International Schools
* Embassies & Business
* All addresses in Simplified Chinese and pinyin
* Works off line (Accept for the map function)
* Add street numbers or create Taxi Cards for crossings
