[prMac.com] McKinney, Texas - Newtoy, developers of the smash hit Chess With Friends, is announcing the launch of Words With Friends, available on the Apple App Store now. Words With Friends brings the same addicting turn-based gaming style of Chess With Friends to crossword gameplay.
"The iPhone and iPod Touch are the perfect fit for this kind of game," said Paul Bettner, creative director at Newtoy. "You can play with dozens of your friends anywhere, anytime! We've been really happy with the surprising popularity of Chess With Friends, which is still drawing in thousands of new users every day even after nine months on the App Store. We're thrilled to add Words With Friends, our second title to the Games With Friends family."
In Words With Friends, players engage in "crossword combat" in several different ways. They can add games with friends directly from their phone's contact list, they can search via user name, or they can instantly find a random opponent to challenge. Words With Friends lets players have dozens of games going simultaneously, adding new opponents while waiting for friends to make their moves, even passing notes with the in-game chat function. Players can also enable SMS/email notifications to let them know when it's their turn.
