[prMac.com] London, UK - MeYuMe today is pleased to announce the release of Invaders World Tour 2.0, a mashup of retro arcade games, updated for the iPhone and iPod touch. Reminiscent of such classics as Space Invaders and Galaga, players must shoot and destroy formations of attacking aliens who drop bombs and fire missiles as they descend to Earth. Firefights grow more frenetic as players advance through 60 levels, in command of their ship and weapons, maneuvering behind fixed energy shields. The game features advanced graphic simulations of smoke, flames, explosions, shock waves, and coronas powered by the Torque 2D Game Engine.
* OpenFeint with multiple leaderboards and achievements,
* Integrated sub games,
* Completely overhauled graphics,
* New invaders, saucers, bombs, power-ups, missiles and shields
* Awesome new special effects
* Combo scoring system
* Re-skinned menu system
* Listen to your music
* Many, many more improvements throughout the game
The update is a significant one with every aspect of the game enhanced to give the player a more challenging and enjoyable experience. Novice players gain the benefit of an intuitive game manager that adapts the game in real time to help the player gain higher achievements and enjoy parts of the game that were perhaps not attainable in the first release. A new combo scoring system allows experienced players to seek out and uncover the secrets and patterns that reward the player with maximum scores, allowing them to take control of the OpenFeint global leaderboard.
Graphics have been completely overhauled with an increased level of detail, and additional visual touches, such as the animated flames from the player's missiles, and the blue after burners from the Invaders heat seekers (yep, they're new!). Other, simple - but effective - improvements abound in the game. Fed up with those pesky gun jams? You can now shake your phone to unjam!
The introduction and integration of a sub-game framework allows us to continually expand the game whilst offering the player increased longevity and repeat playability from the game. Players can shoot special power-ups that unlock the sub games. Each sub game is designed to be short and fun with the ultimate goal of increasing the player's score, helping the avid gamer achieve that number one slot on the global leaderboard.
This update includes our first sub game, Fireball Frenzy, this is a fast and intense time based challenge where the player must shoot an avalanche of burning fireballs that descend from the sky. Larger fireballs move slowly, are an easy target, but don't carry so many points. Seek out the smaller fireballs and really rack up that score! Finally, we've added in something that a lot of people have requested - the ability to listen to your iPod whilst saving the World!
There are a variety of enemy invaders including Swoopers, Saucers, Kamikazes, Crawlers and Packers, that the player must destroy while protecting his ship and shields. Aliens attack a city in each of the following countries: USA, Canada, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, China, Singapore, India, Australia, and Vietnam. There are five waves of attacks on each city from morning till night. Failure to complete any level leaves the city a thermonuclear wasteland, its landmarks and artifacts in ruins.
* Advanced graphics and animation using Torque 2D Game Engine
* 60 fast action packed levels
* Complete achievements and compare scores via global leader boards
* Player controls weapons, ship and shields
* Player collects powerups to upgrade weapons, ship and shields
* Special power-ups such as the totally destructive Time Ripper and the soul sucking galactic Worm Hole.
* 12 different cities are under attack
* Auto-save at the end of every level
* Resume game option
Players tilt their iPhone or iPod touch to move their ship, and tap the screen to fire. Players collect power-ups to recharge their weapons and shields. Beginning levels are easy, but become progressively more difficult, until the nearly impossible final levels. The game remembers where the player left off, so gameplay can resumed at any time. Global leader boards allow players to record their scores and achievements.
Adding a level of graphical resolution and realism never seen in games like the original Space Invaders, Invaders World Tour provides both action and entertainment. The game uses the Torque 2D Game Engine, whose physics are modeled on Newtonian principles. Solid bodies and their behaviors are realistic, and energy events are rendered in convincing detail.
* iPhone or iPod touch
* iPhone OS 2.2.1 or later
* Application size 11.2 MB MB
