Refills App 1.0.2 for iOS-Track and Manage Renewal of Prescription Drugs

[prMac.com] Ottawa, Canada - Angry Pumpkin Software today is pleased to introduce Refills App 1.0.2 for iOS, their new medical app that displays exactly how many days, weeks, or months remain until the user will have completely finished each of the prescription medications they are currently taking. By tracking the dosage, frequency of administration, quantity purchased, and expiration date of each drug, the app provides an absolutely accurate overview of which prescriptions need refilling or renewing, and when. The patient's complete drug regimen is consolidated in one place, and users can easily take into account vacations when they will be out of town, or trips to the pharmacy where they may choose to minimize travel by renewing multiple prescriptions. The app contains a built-in directory of contacts, so patients may phone their pharmacist(s) or doctor(s) from within the app.

Refills App is not a daily reminder app. It does not alert the user when to take their medicine, which drug to take, or how much. Refills App is solely for the tracking and management of prescription medication, and shows at a glance the remaining supply on hand of each medication. The user is automatically alerted of an upcoming due date for refilling or renewing any medication several days in advance. The app is as useful for caregivers and parents tracking medications for others, as for individuals tracking their own meds.

Setting up the app requires no instructions, and it operates in both landscape and portrait modes (most users will prefer the former for data entry and the latter for operation). There are nine user-definable fields to the simple, scrollable Add Med page. The required fields include: Name (of drug), Refills (number of refills specified on the prescription, if any), Remaining (number of doses remaining prior to receiving the refill), Dispensed (number of doses in the refill), Frequency (frequency of administration, e.g. every four hours, twice a day, or three times a week), and Quantity (dosage taken each time, e.g. one dose, one-half dose, four doses). Of the six required fields, only one necessitates use of the alphanumeric keyboard, three are input using a large ten-digit keypad, and two employ touch menus.

Also included are three optional entries: Rx number (the pharmacy's identification number for the prescription), form of the drug (e.g. tablet, liquid, spray), and the expiration date. Since many patients take the same drug regularly, input of most information will be necessary only once. Refills App fully supports the excellent VoiceOver capabilities of the Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, providing the visually impaired with access to all the capabilities and ease of use offered by Refills.
