[prMac.com] Birmingham, Alabama - Announcing the release of MailWing version 4.2. MailWing is an organizer and archiver for Apple's Mail and requires OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion.
Linked Mailboxes - MailWing enables you to link any On My Mac mailbox to a Finder folder located anywhere you wish, such as with a project, an account, an interest group or a client folder. Route messages to these mailboxes manually or automatically, using Mail's Rules. Messages are copied from a linked mailbox into its linked folder and Mail's copy is moved to the Trash mailbox where it will later be archived. Unread messages are labeled gray and the linked folder is opened showing messages ready-to-read. MailWing also preserves the threading of mailboxes Organized by Thread by creating Subject folders.
Mail-Safe Archive - (available only with purchase) Outdated messages in the Trash mailbox are moved into the Mail-Safe Archive folder then deleted from Mail, ensuring that an archived copy exists of every message sent or received. These messages are organized within Day-numbered folders, within Month-numbered folders, within Year-numbered folders. You no longer have to agonize over deleting old mail. Simply archive everything to Mail-Safe where it's out of sight. If you ever need to see an old message, it's easily found with a Spotlight search which works just like Mail's Smart Mailboxes. If you have a requirement to maintain an e-mail archive, Mail-Safe may meet your needs.
MailWing Menu - Installs in the Dock with the click of a button. Gives you instant access to MailWing, the Help document, the Mail-Safe Archive, MailWing's Tools and all of your linked folders organized exactly as in Mail. May also be installed in DragThing and alternate dock or menu bar launchers.
All messages are saved as individual .emlx files (without file conversion) which retain attachments and are simply Mail documents which are opened by Mail when double-clicked or may also be read via Quick Look. These documents may be Replied, Redirected, Forwarded, Bounced and Printed by Mail just like any other messages. (But they cannot be Junked, Deleted or Flagged by Mail.)
Copies of messages made by MailWing are presented in the Finder in a List View window where:
* The file name is the message's Subject;
* The modification date is the Date Sent; and
* The comment is the To: address (for sent mail) or From: address (for received mail). This allows you to easily identify messages in a List View Finder window.
Pricing and Availability:
MailWing is fully functional, except the Mail-Safe Archive, for a period of 30 days following installation, after which continued use requires purchase of an activation key ($9.95 USD).
