Mark Lyttleton, founder of Percent For Good, has pioneered the giving sphere through the introduction of his innovative Cause Portfolio concept. Having worked in the City of London for many years, Mark had donated to several causes through Payroll Giving schemes, albeit without really researching the charities he supported. Recognising the dilemma faced by ‘cash-rich’ but ‘time-poor’ individuals keen to drive positive change but lacking the time to undertake their own research, Mark Lyttleton launched Percent For Good, an organisation supporting numerous high-impact charities and their game-changing work in local communities across the UK.
Keen to widen the culture of giving across the corporate sector, Mark Lyttleton has made it as easy and efficient as possible for professionals to support causes they care passionately about through Payroll Giving. Keen to give back to society, Mark himself contributes 5% across the full range of Percent For Good Cause Portfolios.
Percent For Good’s Cause Portfolios are divided into five categories:
- The Cost-of-Living Crisis Portfolio
- The Social Mobility Portfolio
- The Education & Arts Portfolio
- The Health & Wellbeing Portfolio
- The Nature & Environment Portfolio
Percent For Good’s Nature & Environment Cause Portfolio supports a range of high impact/ low exposure environmental charities and their groundbreaking work. One such charity is The Rivers Trust, an organisation created with the mission of ensuring that rivers and the communities that rely on them thrive. The Rivers Trust works with member trusts to promote their shared vision of ensuring that rivers are valued by all. An umbrella organisation comprising 65 member River Trusts from across the UK and Ireland, The River Trust charity is led by river and catchment conservation experts benefiting from a wealth of experience and expertise.
Surfers Against Sewage is a movement of ocean activists fighting to reclaim and protect Britain’s wild waters from polluters. The organisation engages with Members of Parliament, seeking lasting commitments to protect the country’s wild waters. In addition to campaigning for a clean ocean, lakes and rivers for wildlife and people, Surfers Against Sewage is also striving to tackle the tidal wave of plastics choking the oceans, demanding an end to plastic pollution on beaches across the UK by 2030.
Also backed by Percent For Good, The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) has encouraged thousands of people across the UK to connect with precious natural habitats on their doorsteps, contributing to their protection. To date, TCV has worked with 96,741 individuals to transform 1,354 green spaces. The organisation recently launched its ambitious Green Skills Programme as part of efforts to revitalise the John Muir Way through habitat restoration, environmental traineeships and collaborative efforts.
Recognising the integral importance of bees in the world’s ecosystems, Percent For Good is also a proud supporter of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, a charity lobbying for urgent action to protect bee populations and their habitat. The Bumblebee Conservation Trust encourages bee conservation through the sowing of wildflower seeds, as well as inviting supporters to participate in BeeWalks staged across the UK and do their bit to protect local bee populations.
