iPhone 4 Gyroscope Controlled Air Drums Available on App Store
August 16, 2010 in Music
[prMac.com] Tacoma, Washington - Logic Consulting has released Gyro Air Drums 1.0, a virtual drum set simulator for the iPhone 4. Gyro Air Drums is a first of its kind app, taking advantage of the iPhone 4's vibrational gyroscope sensor to put the player in the center of a virtual drum set.
The iPhone 4 uses a vibrational gyroscope, called a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) gyroscope. This in addition to the existing accelerometer allows the Gyro Air Drums to detect three dimensional (roll, yaw, and pitch) rotation as well as device tilt. Gyro Air Drums transforms all the sensor data into an enhanced, fun drumming experience for the user.
Using Gyro Air Drums, a multitude of drums are arranged at two vertical levels in a 300 degree setup around the user. Tilting the iPhone 4 upward allows users to hit the upper level instruments, the hi-hat, crash, and cowbell. Holding the device level allows users to hit the snare and toms. Pointing the device in any horizontal direction around the player brings differing drums into view as if the drum set were actually set up around them.
