UK's competition winning game idea rolls onto the Apple App Store

[] Cirencester, United Kingdom - Neon Play today is proud to announce Patrick Jamison has become the first competition winner to have an app idea developed into a full iOS game by a United Kingdom games studio.

Jamison, a 42 year old landlord and tech enthusiast from Ascot, answered UK mobile games firm Neon Play's nationwide call by entering his Rollerhog game idea to a 'Design an app' competition run in conjunction with MacFormat and Tap! magazines.

In the first competition of its kind by a top mobile games developer, a panel of experts including Neon Play designers and games journalists sifted through hundreds of submissions to whittle the game ideas down to just 13 finalists; eventually selecting Rollerhog as the standout concept.

Rollerhog follows the trials and tribulations of a plucky young hedgehog as he attempts to navigate his way home through psychedelic landscapes.

"Everyone always says 'I've got a great idea for an iPhone game' but now, someone who had a great idea has actually had the opportunity to see it made" says Oli Christie, CEO of Neon Play. "We received hundreds of entries from all over the UK and even one from as far afield as Singapore but Patrick's idea stuck with us because we knew it had the potential to become something really great. It's turned out to be a fun and addictive game which is proving popular with kids and adults alike."

Upon playing the completed version of Rollerhog for the first time, Jamison commented:

"I'm very happy with what Neon Play has done! It's great fun to play. It's very addictive, and I love the art style, which is attractive, bright and cute. The music is catchy with amusing sound effects. It's frantic fun, especially in hyper mode, and I find myself going back for more again and again to try and beat my high score. I couldn't be more pleased."

The studio has high hopes for Rollerhog and is confident that it can emulate the success of many of its games which have attained over 1 million downloads each. The 'Design an app' competition rules stipulate that Jamison will receive a 25 per cent split of the revenues generated by the game.

Five little known facts about hedgehogs:
* Hedgehogs have a top sprint speed of 6mph. Rollerhog, however, can move much faster
* Studies have calculated that about 12,000-15,000 hedgehogs are killed on the roads each year - don't let Rollerhog become a statistic
* In Medieval England, hedgehog meat was roasted and eaten with wild duck sauce
* Hedgehogs are still eaten in some Middle Eastern countries, especially among Bedouins who attribute medicinal qualities to hedgehog meat
* Tins of hedgehog food - that is, food for hedgehogs - are commercially available
