ResourceHelper launches - No more image resource mistakes
May 26, 2012 in Utility
[prMac.com] Brighton, United Kingdom - Today, hiddenMemory Limited announced the release of ResourceHelper 1.0 for OS X. ResourceHelper is an image resource management tool for developers and designers who want to create great iOS software. With image checking, batch image conversion, rapid searching, Xcode project validation and code snippets, ResourceHelper helps you ship software with all the correctly scaled image assets required.
ResourceHelper for OS X has been developed by UK-based company hiddenMemory. hiddenMemory has helped a large number of clients release top quality software on Apple's AppStore for iOS--from video content distribution to wholesale order management systems. We built ResourceHelper as a tool for ourselves, and it became so valuable, we knew other developers would love it too. It's is designed by iOS developers, for iOS developers and designers.
ResourceHelper allows everyone to spend less time on mundane tasks and focus instead on creating great software.
Check and Fix:
ResourceHelper makes it trivial to compare your standard and retina assets (and their dimensions) side by side. Making sure that the assets have the correct names and sizes.
ResourceHelper scans your project folder and rates of all images found. Problems are highlighted using a traffic light system. Green images are all good. Images rated orange should be checked--they probably have the wrong retina scale. Red? You've got a missing image.
Have you been provided with a directory of retina assets that need a standard version? ResourceHelper is here to do the heavy lifting. The app can generate standard images from your retina images with a few clicks.
ResourceHelper can validate your images against your Xcode project. It will offer fixes to deal with missing images.
ResourceHelper can generate code snippets to speed up image access. Developers no longer need to manually calculate measurements for stretchable images or transparent bounds.
ResourceHelper can generate correctly scaled placeholder images for a developer to use while the designer works on the asset required.
Generating error reports is absurdly easy and ResourceHelper even makes emailing them to the right people trivial. Gone are the days where you have to manually compile a list of images that need fixing and email it to your designer.
The search in ResourceHelper is progressive, precise and makes locating the right image simple. If you've used LaunchBar, Alfred or Quick Open in Xcode you will feel right at home.
* Requires Mac OS X 10.7 or later
* 0.7 MB
Pricing and Availability:
To celebrate the launch, ResourceHelper 1.0.1 is offered at the introductory price of $9.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the Mac App Store in the Developer Tools category.
