Pitch Perfect: Practical Advice From Professional Bloggers

May 24, 2012 in Books

[prMac.com] Highlands Ranch, Colorado - Reviews from popular websites can make or break a product. So why do so many developers throw opportunities away? Some devs work on their apps and hardware for months or years and then submit weak, quickly written product pitches that fail to sell their excitement. These two-minute e-mails and months-in-development ideas move from a blogger's inbox to the trashcan rather than being featured on a blog's front page.

Noted bloggers Erica Sadun and Steven Sande have been hard at work writing about the successful pitch. Their new title called Pitch Perfect (US $8.99) teaches readers how to effectively position and sell their product's story. They show indie devs how to tighten up their communication skills. Readers learn:

* How blogs work in real life, and how pitch letters are handled
* What makes products pop
* How to compose effective pitches and avoid common mistakes
* How to create lasting relationships with bloggers

Pitch Perfect is packed with humor, case studies, practical advice, and loaded with illustrations by JoyOfTech's amazing Nitrozac and Snaggy. It is the ideal book for anyone trying to make a living on App Store, create a Kickstarter project, or build and sell accessories. Pitch Perfect (US $8.99, 235 pp) is now available on Amazon's Kindle ebook store and the Apple iBookstore.

"A must-read for anyone trying to get their app reviewed by the media" - Aaron Watkins, President - Appency PR

"This book illustrates the intricate relationship between product developers and bloggers so well, that I can almost hear David Attenborough's disembodied voice narrating the complex dance." - Carl E. Moebis @ iBackFlip Studios LLC

"As a long time indie app publisher I felt like someone had finally lifted the veil over what really goes on in the minds of the reviewers at a major blog site. Pitch Perfect offers extensive examples, both good and bad (and some very bad), of product email pitches. Following their guidelines certainly won't guarantee having your app or peripheral reviewed, but it will certainly increase your chances. We look forward to implementing the book's lessons when we release Gluey - our 'liquid Tetris like' iOS game." - Ken Landau, co-founder, mobileAge, LLC

"There are tons of great mobile programming resources but very few great resources for app marketing. Erica and Steve do a fantastic job in their book Pitch Perfect explaining in detail the best way to raise awareness for your indie apps. I have virtual yellow highlighter all over my copy!" - Elia Freedman, CEO, Infinity Softworks, maker of powerOne calculators

Review copies are available to the press upon request. If you have questions about the book or would like to schedule an interview with one or both of the authors, please contact us.

Sand Dune Books is the brainchild of two veterans of the Apple world, Erica Sadun and Steve Sande. Our goal is to write and publish focused electronic books that educate, entertain, and enlighten our fellow techies, and those who aren't quite so proficient in the world of technology. Erica Sadun writes lots of books and she blogs at TUAW. When not writing, she's a full time parent of geeks who are brushing up on their world domination skills. According to her academic dosimeter, she's acquired more education than any self-respecting person might consider wise. She enjoys deep-diving into technology. Steve Sande also writes way too much. He's the Hardware Editor at TUAW, and recently logged over one million words written for the blog in just over three years. He's written a number of books for Take Control Books and Apress, is married to a rocket scientist, and spends his days being bossed by a cat. Copyright (C) 2012 Sand Dune Books, LLP.
