[prMac.com] Reston, Virginia - Software and Computer Systems Company, LLC, (SCSC) has released Scannerz Lite for the Mac OS X Operating System. Scannerz Lite is a hard drive analysis tool utilizing the same advanced diagnostic algorithms developed by SCSC used in their fully featured product, Scannerz for Mac OS X. The user interface has been simplified, allowing a user to simply click on the drive or volume they wish to test, let the test run its course, and then obtain the results.
"Scannerz Lite is a fire and forget tool," stated an SCSC spokesman. "All a user needs to do is click on a drive, start the test, and that's about it. Scannerz Lite will perform a test on the drive, and when it's done, it gives the user a pass or fail status. The same core scanning technology present in our fully featured version of Scannerz is there, but there are no provisions in this tool for monitoring active logging, performing controlled scans over specific drive regions, or going into any sort of troubleshooting or repair modes. This tool is for someone that simply wants to test their drive and find out if it's working without spending an arm and leg. Since Scannerz Lite is upwardly compatible with Scannerz, if a user decides they need more sophisticated features, all they need to do is purchase Scannerz, install it, and they're ready to go."
Pricing and Availability:
SCSC has indicated that the price for Scannerz Lite is $7.95 (USD). Unlike its sibling, Scannerz for Mac OS X, Scannerz Lite does not come with any version of FSE-Lite or FSE. The product supports Mac OS X versions 10.5 (Leopard), 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and 10.7 (Lion) and will work on both PowerPC and Intel based systems using one of these operating system versions.
