The Love at First Sight with a Country Became a Magical App for Children

in Books

[prMac.com] Rochester, New York - PlaneTree Family Productions launches The Magnificent Travelling Palace 1.0.2, an updated version of the highly-acclaimed storybook app for the iPad.

The Magnificent Travelling Palace draft was first written years ago by the developer of the App, Shoham D., on a small notepad during a long train ride in northern India. "The first time I visited India, it took me three days to fall in love with this country and its culture but then it took me 15 years to be able to bring it to the iPad" says Shoham. "After my first son was born I wanted to introduce him with the wonders of India and at the same time teach and educate him about cultural diversity."

Jill Goodman from Smart Apps For Kids Shared this about the App: "Readers or listeners, as the case may be, are transported into the story quite literally as the book begins with a train moving across the page." "The book is fiction", Jill continues," but I have it with my Social Studies apps because it is a glimpse into a culture and way of life many of our kids will never experience as they tap on their shiny iPads and surf the web with wireless Internet."

Mary Mahon from The iMums, added "This is really a gorgeous story, The music, sound effects and colorful 3-d images transport you to India and immerse you in its culture. Both my kids and myself fell in love with it the first time we read it."

The storybook App uses technology to bring the enchanting world of India to children. Through the images and animations, created by the TASI award winner - Rakesh Nanda, and original music and sounds, a sense of authenticity is brought to the adventure. The story comes to life with a real chai seller voice, a mischievous monkey, an original Indian announcer voice, a morning mantra, special sitar sounds, and a traditional Indian dessert recipe.

"When kids read and interact with the story" Says Shoham, "they gain an experience that makes reading more exciting."

The Magnificent Travelling Palace is nominated for the CYBILS Literary Award, 2012. The Magnificent Travelling Palace received the KinderTown approval and awarded with the Famigo's APProved badge. In addition, the storybook was chosen as "App of the week" by iHeartThisApp and as one of the "Top 10 Book Apps about Travel" by Digital Storytime. The app is recommended for ages 5 and up.
