Mathzilla with Roxy the Star 1.0 for iOS - Solve Equations with +, - , x

in Games (E)

[prMac.com] Taipei, Taiwan - HaStars Technology today is pleased to introduce Mathzilla with Roxy the Star 1.0 for iOS, its game where users solve simple equations involving addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Equations in the game are all of the type A?B=Z. The variables A and B are whole numbers or groups of objects symbolizing numbers. The ? is an arithmetic operator like +, - , or x. Last, Z is a given number or group of objects representing a number. Users must figure out which numbers and operators on the gameboard need to be chosen and how they must be arranged to solve the math puzzle/equation. There are three levels of play, and high scores help King Kong climb the Empire State Building.

Feature Highlights:
* 3 different levels of play: Easy, Medium, and Hard
* Easy - addition and subtraction up to the number 5 (maximum value 10)
* Medium - addition, subtraction, and multiplication up to number 9 (maximum value 81)
* Hard - addition, subtraction, and multiplication up to number 19 (maximum value 361)
* 3 different scoreboards
* Animations of King Kong, Roxy, and monkeys are cute, and maintain interest in gameplay
* Math skill improvement - kids & adults practice finding answers as quickly as possible

Unlike most math games for children and adults, Mathzilla with Roxy the Star asks players to think holistically. The math problems found in most other games resemble flash cards, e.g., 2+5=X or X+5=7. There is only one variable, and the required operation, e.g., addition, is provided. Mathzilla challenges users to answer questions containing three variables, two numbers, and an operator. This helps young players develop the ability to solve problems that involve the logical process of trial and error (useful in solving many non-math problems). More advanced players will immediately recognize the most promising combinations and solve the puzzles quickly.

Also fostered by the app is the connection between digits, numbers, and quantities. A "3" can function as a noun and refer to an abstract concept, or a "3" may function as an adjective modifying a noun. The app demonstrates to young math students that a "3" can stand alone or stand connected to a noun, providing the answer to the question "How many (noun)s."

Last, the app subtly interweaves the concept of equivalence. The given answer to the equation may be a group of seven bananas, stacked three over four. But a group of three and another group of four may not be available on the gameboard. Users may need to use a group of two bananas and another group of five to solve the equation.

Mathzilla includes playful background music throughout, and every animation includes amusing sound effects. Roxy the Star is an animated character with cyan hair and eyes, and she also leads kids on explorations of Preschool Math and Learning Basic Chinese in the other apps in the series.

"Carefully designed for kids & adults, Mathzilla with Roxy the Star is the perfect way for them to master basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication," commented Rita Jao of HaStars Technology. "And parents should know that our apps are completely safe, with no ads, no in-app purchases, and no data mining or tracking."

* iPhone 4/4S/5, iPod touch (4th/5th generation), iPad 2/3/4, and iPad mini
* Universal app optimized for display on all iOS devices
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
