[prMac.com] Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - DEVONtechnologies, LLC today releases updates for all editions of its information and knowledge manager DEVONthink. Updates are also available for its notebook app DEVONnote and its smart Internet research assistant DEVONagent. The updates are free and recommended for all users.
Markdown has become a popular way for adding simple formatting to text without relying on platform-specific file formats. DEVONthink already supported plain Markdown. Starting with version 2.7.5 it now renders MultiMarkdown, too. With the update we have also improved the tagging and made the window and workspace handling more reliable. As a user of DEVONthink Pro or Pro Office you can now close all open databases with a single click. Email messages dragged into DEVONthink Pro Office from Apple Mail keep their dates and unread status.
DEVONagent 3.8 is all about updated plugins. Plugins connect the smart research assistant to search engines and tell it how to speak to them and how the results look like. With version 3.8 we have updated almost all plugins and made many of them language-aware. Enter a keyword and a search term into the address bar; the app does the rest for you including choosing the right website for your language. In addition DEVONagent 3.8 makes shopping the Internet easier: a new plugin searches Amazon for whatever product you're looking for, of course in your language.
All editions of DEVONagent already come with a large number of plugins for popular search engines. You can also write them yourself in XML or, starting with version 3.8, JSON. Plugins now also accept data from search engines as structured JSON data.
Finally, the updates for DEVONthink, DEVONnote, and DEVONagent clean up some menus to reduce clutter. As always we have improved the overall reliability, too, and fixed some bugs.
"Everything revolves around the Internet today. Our three editions of DEVONagent, from Pro to Lite, are the most straightforward and most powerful way to find whatever you are looking for. Choose the best search engine for the job and let DEVONagent do the heavy work. And if there is no plugin yet, JSON makes it easier than ever to quickly create one, hand-tailored to the search engine and to your needs", comments Eric Bohnisch-Volkmann, President of DEVONtechnologies.
