[prMac.com] Cerdanyola de Valles, Spain - Aero Quartet today released version 3.10 of SimpleMovieX, the lightweight Mac OS X movie editor. With QuickTime Pro development halted, simple editing tools are needed more than ever: SimpleMovieX extends basic capabilities to popular formats AVI, MPEG and MPEG-4, the preferred container used by iTunes. The main advantage of native editing is speed and quality, since no re-encoding is required to save edited movies.
A native H264 editing tool, SimpleMovieX is the perfect companion for iTunes. This new version lets you add movies to your iTunes library in one click, automatically picking the fastest method while preserving quality. Movies with multiple audio tracks, like alternative languages or AC3 Dolby, can now be saved in MP4 formats natively. Chapters, languages, metadata and artworks that you add to your movies with SimpleMovieX, are compatible with AppleTV, iPhone, iPad, iPod and Front Row: You get the same gorgeous experience everywhere.
The bonus in version 3.10 is an experimental feature that saves XVID movies into iTunes library 10x faster by "mutating" video into MPEG4 Video codec: You can now watch a feature-length movie on your iPad or iPhone just 5 minutes after opening it with SimpleMovieX.
The metadata editor can pull movie information and artwork from Amazon database, or you can enter tags manually to quickly give shape to your movie collection. Chapter markers created inside MOV and MPEG-4 files by SimpleMovieX are supported by iTunes and iDVD, and enhance the watching experience on DVDs, iPod, iPad and Apple TV devices.
Powerful editing operations like splitting a movie into clips, a Batch Converter, an Audio Waveform tool to make sharp audio editing and synchronization, are among most appreciated features of version 3. SimpleMovieX also provides a search pane to quickly find a sequence and an adaptable timeline for accurate playhead positioning even in large duration movies. Huge files beyond 4GB, for example 6 hours of TV recording, can be edited without truncating.
SimpleMovieX is a tool for a wide public: Discriminating TV viewers that clean their recordings of commercials, Users of a digital camera, mobile phone or camcorder that need to edit, compile, convert and share their personal footage, Video collectors compiling music concerts or Google Video shorts, etc.
For occasional users, an unlimited demo version of SimpleMovieX 3.10 is available for free download. SimpleMovieX requires Mac OS X v10.4 or higher. QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component is required to take advantage of MPEG-2 capabilities. QuickTime Pro is not required. SimpleMovieX is available in English, French and German.

"The major software companies have already filled the space with their big software suites. But you don't fill a box only with big stones, you also need lots of pebbles. As a small developer, I want to craft some of those pebbles, indeed I want them to be gem stones !"
