[prMac.com] Everett, Washington - Laura Bangerter is the woman behind Corvid Apps. Her husband is a professional poker player and after discussing the newest game, Open Face Chinese Poker that is sweeping through the poker scene, she noted that the market had not fulfilled the need for a cross-platform app to play OFC poker. Her experience in app development came from children's apps, but she decided to tackle the project.
Open Face Chinese Poker is a game in which each player will get a total of 13 cards in which they need to set into three poker hands. The bottom hand has to beat the middle hand which has to beat the top hand, otherwise you misset, and will not get any points. Your goal is to not misset, while beating each of your opponents hands. Extra royalty and bonus points are given for big hands, and winning all three hands.
In just a few months she released the Open Face Chinese Poker app on both Apple and Android platforms including the exciting scoring variation Fantasy Land. The app is doing well and building a loyal user base. Many users who had anxiously been waiting for an Android version are pleased that they can now play, and practice their skills as the World Series of Poker(R) will have a non-bracelet Open Face Chinese Poker event this summer.
The app is made primarily from custom coded components with the aim that new functionality and bug fixes can be made quickly and without the headache of relying on third party platform functionality. Future updates will include chat functionality, notifications, playing against a bot, multi-player play, and social media integration.
