[prMac.com] Seoul, Korea, Republic Of - Waterbear Soft today is pleased to announce Toddler Alphabet for iPad 1.0.7, an update to its award-winning education app, designed to help toddlers learn the alphabet through touch, sight, and sound. Featuring original illustrations in the offbeat style of Maurice Sendak, the app includes 4 different activities for each of the 26 letters, including: Jigsaw Puzzle, Find the Letter, Alphabet Song, and Write the Letter. With outstanding graphics and interactive design, the app reached number 3 in the Education Category of the U.S. App Store.
In Jigsaw Puzzle mode, toddlers hear a sentence describing a scene, and then they must drag several puzzle pieces to complete the picture. For example, for the letter B the learner hears, "The baby bears are playing baseball by the river." Attentive children will notice several pieces: the baseball, the bear holding a bat, and a boat where other bears are watching from the river. Touching each object announces its name aloud, and kids are congratulated on finishing the puzzle.
During Find the Letter, toddlers must identify a selected letter every time it appears in a 5 x 5 grid of multi-colored letters. Touching a square with the correct letter reveals part of the picture beneath, while identifying a letter incorrectly produces only a slash. After touching all the instances of the letter selected, the full picture is revealed, illustrating an object starting with that letter. This game helps toddlers distinguish between letters.
* Multisensory educational app teaches all 26 letters, both upper and lower case
* Toddlers play, sing, and dance as they memorize the contents and order of the alphabet
* Jigsaw puzzles give kids the opportunity to perform actions that prove their mastery of letters and their relationship to words
* An intelligent writing engine senses when the child has correctly written the letter with their finger, following the numbered strokes
* Finding all the A's among 25 random, multicolored letters is a challenge that helps toddlers master letter recognition
The Alphabet Song is a joyous rendition of the famous song, professionally performed by kids in three-part harmony. While they sing, all 26 letters are shown dancing. This rhyme is an ideal, time-tested method of memorizing the alphabet, and toddlers can touch each letter as it is sung aloud.
Finally, Write the Letter mode gives players an opportunity to draw all 26 letters, both upper and lower case. One at a time, each letter appears in gray, and each stroke required to form the letter is numbered. As they drag across the screen to complete each stroke, the gray guide is covered by black ink. When all the strokes have been completed, toddlers hear an encouraging, "Good job!" Kids can write every letter from A to Z and then draw every lower case letter from a to z, or they can alternate between upper and lowercase letters.
"Whether they play with Toddler Alphabet by themselves, with friends, or with adult supervision, there is no faster, more enjoyable, or more effective way for toddlers to master all the letters of the alphabet," commented Sewon Cho of Waterbear Soft.
