[prMac.com] Bear, Delaware - Award-winning romance novelist Donna Fasano spent 20 years writing bestselling romance books for Harlequin Ltd. The New York publisher, known worldwide for publishing women's fiction novels, sold 3.5 million copies of the Fasano's books. In 2010, Fasano self-published The Merry-Go-Round, a contemporary women's fiction novel that had been purchased by Harlequin but never published by the company. Fasano then acquired the publication rights to a third of her 32 back-list titles and has been updating, editing, and self-publishing the sweet romance novels through iBooks, Kindle, Nook, Sony, Kobo, Diesel, Smashwords and other digital venues. Since 2011, Fasano has sold over 100,000 e-books.
Although Fasano enjoyed working with Harlequin, she revels in the freedom that self-publishing offers. Through various social networks - Facebook, Twitter, etc - Fasano has found it possible to connect directly to her readers.
In an effort to provide all romance authors access to free promotion, Fasano created a blog and two different Facebook pages that are slowly gaining recognition.
"Doing it all, writing, editing, cover design, promoting, is difficult," Fasano says. "But I feel I have more control over my writing career than ever before. And I find that exhilarating!"
