[prMac.com] Auckland, New Zealand - Chewy Applications today is pleased to introduce SpeedGlow Speedometer 1.0 for iPhone, an easy-to-use-while-driving speedometer app with a clean display. SpeedGlow features an accurate digital reading of the user's speed derived from the GPS chip in the user's device. With intuitive gesture controls and no confusing settings menu, SpeedGlow offers users a chance to view their speed, direction, the time, and more with brilliant simplicity and in a color chosen by the user.
* Vivid LCD display in user's choice of color
* Distraction-free mode displays speed only
* Gesture controls for easy while-driving operation
* Heads-up display mode
* Features time with standard or military option
* Records user's top speed
* Serves as compass
* Options of miles per hour and kilometers per hour
* View extra features by pinching screen
* Alarm sounds when user goes over their set speed
Users may choose between six equally vibrant colors in which to view the glowing speedometer reading, making the app engaging in its simplicity. The digital readout and GPS accuracy of the app give it advantages over a typical built-in car speedometer dial. SpeedGlow is both more accurate and easier to view while driving, walking, or in any mode of transport.
SpeedGlow Speedometer also features the user's direction in the upper left corner, letting him or her know in simple letters whether the vehicle is traveling north, southeast, west, etc. The time, visible in the upper right corner, may be switched between standard and military time with a simple tap. Tapping the lower right of the screen will switch the user between miles per hour and kilometers per hour. Similarly, a tap on the left side of the bottom of the screen will reset the app's reading of the user's highest speed thus far. While these controls are simple and easy to see and use, the user may also hide them all to view only the speed by stretching two fingers apart across the screen.
One two-finger tap on the screen switches the application to HUD, or heads-up display mode, which makes the screen a mirror image. This is handy for setting on the dashboard at night, so users can view the reflection of their speed in the windshield without having to glance down further. The app also features a speed alarm, which can be set with a vertical swipe up or down the screen to increase or decrease the set speed. If the user goes over this set speed, the alarm will sound. The application may also be viewed in portrait or landscape orientation, with a handy interface screen lock that can stop the device from switching between the two if it is jostled.
Due to its easy to use gesture controls and simple display, SpeedGlow Speedometer offers a straightforward application with truly natural user commands and controls. Offering more than just a speedometer display, as other apps do, SpeedGlow keeps its elegance and ease.
"We cut the clutter found in most speedo apps," says Matt Grayson of Chewy Applications. "And we made it great to look at and effortless to operate."
