[prMac.com] London, United Kingdom - Independent publisher Nosy Crow is pleased to announce that its first rhyming storybook app featuring multiple stories, Animal SnApp: Farm, is now available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. In this interactive app, readers swipe through the two halves of different farmyard animals in a fun slider game to unlock a unique story for each of six characters by swiping to match the correct top and bottom. Animal SnApp is recommended for children aged 3 and up.
Filled with original artwork by Axel Scheffler (whose picture book classic The Gruffalo has sold over 10 million copies and has been made into an Oscar-nominated animated short film), the app features six stories, each with stunning animation, lively child narration of rhyming texts, text highlighting, sound effects and music by BAFTA-winner Robin Beanland. Animal SnApp: Farm combines traditional storytelling with the innovation and child-centered appeal for which Nosy Crow's apps have become recognized.
"Reading is central to our apps, and we are particularly keen on rhyming texts as they do so much to support children's nascent reading skills," says Kate Wilson, Managing Director of Nosy Crow. "To combine something so innovative with artwork created by someone credited with illustrating a modern picture book classic is exactly the sort of thing we should be doing."
"The process of creating the art for these stories was refreshingly different from the way I create art for a picture book," says Axel Scheffler. "The quality of the animation is excellent, and it's great to see my work brought to life in this innovative way."
