[prMac.com] Reston, Virginia - Software and Computer Systems Company, LLC (SCSC) has release a major update for their product line Scannnerz for Mac OS X. Scannerz now supports virtually all types of CoreStorage including multi-drive/volume logical volumes, as well as fully encrypted volumes and drives. Addtionally, Scannerz now has embedded support for Apple RAID. This release also includes some minor bug fixes.
"This is a fairly big update for us," stated an SCSC spokesman. "For users of Mountain Lion and Lion, the user will be able to directly perform tests on an encrypted drive without the need for another bootable drive or media. Additionally, a user that combines numerous drives or volumes into a single, logical volume may be able to perform tests on the entire logical volume or scan it on a component by component basis. In the event such a combined logical volume develops problems, the ability to scan the elements comprising the volume on an individual basis will allow them to identify the problematic component without breaking the set of drives or volumes into standalone components to be tested. This will obviously make life much easier for users of our products. On top of all that, we're now supporting the vast majority of hardware based RAID, have limited support for third party software RAID solutions, and full support for Apple RAID."
"At present, this will affect only the fully featured versions of Scannerz, namely Scannerz with FSE and Scannerz with FSE-Lite. Support for the new features has not been implemented in Scannerz-Lite yet, but we expect to have that complete within the next few weeks. All current users of the commercial releases of Scannerz with FSE or Scannerz with FSE-Lite should be receiving download notifications to obtain the newest versions within a few days. As usual, all product updates for all our customers are free of charge for all versions using the same major release number.
Pricing and Availability:
SCSC has indicated that there is no price change in their product line, with the cost of Scannerz with FSE-Lite being $34.95 (USD) and Scannerz with FSE being $44.95. Scannerz-Lite is now selling for $17.95.
