[prMac.com] XChange International, the source for extended technology worldwide, are pleased to announce the release of a free update for users of PitStop Professional version 7.x. PitStop Professional is an Adobe® Acrobat® plug-in indispensable for every graphic arts and publishing professional. PitStop Professional 7 is the de facto standard for graphic arts and publishing professionals needing to preflight, edit and fix PDF files. No other preflight software comes close to offering PitStop Professional 7’s comprehensive range of tools, giving you unprecedented control over your PDFs no matter what your workflow requirements. From hands-on fixes to fully-automated PDF preflighting, correction and modification, quality is guaranteed throughout by Enfocus award-winning Certified PDF® technology, making sure that every PDF leaving your workstation is bulletproof as it goes to press.

PitStop Professional 7’s extensive PDF preflight options ensure every possible error is caught before output. With custom preflight reports and a new enhanced PDF Navigator, it’s easy to jump from the preflight report right to a problem highlighted on the PDF page. PitStop Professional 7 also performs a wide range of fixes for common PDF prepress errors, meaning you don’t need to make time-consuming manual changes to your files. And if you need powerful automation (adding or removing logos, page headers or converting colours, for example), PitStop Professional 7 can now embed Enfocus Action Lists right into your PDF Profile, offering a huge scope of test and modification options all from a single click of your mouse. And there’s more! For the ultimate in preflight control, PitStop Professional 7 also fully incorporates Enfocus’ award-winning Certified PDF® technology, allowing you to track changes to files, roll back to previous versions and guarantee PDF quality from start to finish in your workflow.

New features in version 7.5:
- Confidently Convert Colours Using Additional Colour Engines
PitStop Professional 7.5 offers users the choice between several industry standard colour engines so they can use the same conversion engine throughout their workflow. Users can choose to utilise the Adobe Color Management System (CMS) or the embedded, open-source ‘Little CMS’. Both colour engines ensure colour consistent conversions across both Windows and Mac OS platforms.
- Benefit from PDF/X-4 Compliancy
More and more pre-press vendors include the PDF Engine from Adobe into their RIPs. Amongst other benefits, these RIPs now support transparency, various blend modes and layers in PDF files. In anticipation of this phenomenon, ISO has defined a new PDF/X standard: PDF/X-4. Enfocus' PDF Profiles and Actions Lists in PitStop Professional 7.5 have already been updated to support the new PDF/X-4 standard, providing users with all the tools required to deal with these cutting-edge PDF files.
• Work with Different Font Types
Switching between font types in PDF files has never been this easy. PitStop Professional 7.5 provides better and more reliable font operations on all font types. Support for font remapping and for composite fonts in particular has been further improved. PitStop Professional 7.5 also allows users to check whether all required glyphs and metrics for the characters used in a PDF file are available. This can be done via an independent Action List, or through the use of the all in one PDF/X compliance check.
• Easy PDF Profile Adoption
Adopting existing PDF Profiles to specific needs has never been easier. Users can now create a new PDF Profile based on any existing PDF Profile, rather than being restricted to the existing templates. Creating a tailor-made PDF Profile has become as simple as selecting a favourite Profile and making those one or two required changes.
• Keep Control of Viewing Preferences
Users can configure PitStop Professional 7.5 to show the View and File Settings dialogue box whenever they are opening a file and one of the requirements in the View and File Settings is not honoured, thereby providing a clear warning when leaving a pre-defined working environment. Through View and File Settings users can check whether features that influence the way they see the document, such as colour management and overprint preview, are configured correctly. This same feature can be used to check file specifics such as file size and naming convention. These View and File Settings can be saved and distributed to ensure operators at different workstations are viewing their jobs under the same conditions.
• Text Display in Wireframe Mode
In PitStop Professional 7.5, users can choose how wireframe text is displayed: greeked, outlined or black.
